GIS and Resource Management

GIS, the sister of GPS, is a computerized tool applied to geographical data for integration of collection, storing, retrieving, transforming and displaying spatial data for solving complex planning and management problems. Ecosdyn professionals are experts in GIS mapping and use it as a tool for natural resource management.

Due to the strong research component inherent in resource management, we use GIS mapping to monitor and manage social and ecological trends such as wildlife populations and timber growth and harvest, and to manage environmental quality.

Much of the information on trends and ecological processes compiled from GIS mapping is used for identifying and mitigating any potential biological and socioecological hazards.  This allows for the building of immediate solutions, keeping clients and projects in compliance with state and federal environmental laws.
