Cultural Resource Management (socio-cultural inventories)

Cultural Resource Management is a process which maintains to keep sacred and respected the important, yet unfortunately scarce, elements of cultural heritage which are historically sewn into environments and are the core constituent to ecological and social strata. Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act 1966 declares that “the historical and cultural foundations of the Nation should be preserved as a living part of our community life and development in order to give a sense of orientation to the American people.”

As a socioecological consulting firm, Ecosdyn assesses Cultural Resource Management in addition to biodiversity inventory, taking socio-cultural inventories using T. King’s model, which looks at a range of types of properties including: cultural landscapes, archaeological sites, historical records, social institutions, expressive cultures, old buildings, religious beliefs and practices, industrial heritage, folklife, artifacts, and spiritual places.
